Timepiece is Myra McEntires second novel in the Hourglass Series. The novel gets some feeling (literally) from being told in Kaleb Ballard’s point of view. He is an empath who is introduced in the first novel. His battle with trying to find is place in the Hourglass Institute is well fought, his flirtatious personality is fun and seductive, and his uncanny ability to get himself into a tight spot is awkwardly pleasant. (I’d hang out in a closet with him!)
In Timepiece we lose Emerson as a narrator, but she still …

For information about our Pretty Amy giveaway and to see an interview with Lisa Burstein, GO HERE!
I finished reading Lisa Burstein’s Pretty Amy this afternoon. It was a lovely and painful read for me, and I know I should explain that more fully so as not to be misunderstood. Do not think painful means it was hard for me to get through. That is not the case at all. There are two reasons I say it was a lovely and painful read for me.
First, It was painful for me because …

Allegiance by Cayla Kluver was released back in February. To say I was excited to read this sequel to her, Legacy, might very well be the understatement of the year. Here’s the synopsis from Amazon.com:
He couldn’t help his past any more than he could help the way those intense, deep blue eyes pierced me and held me captive. An eighteen-year-old queen in love with the enemy as their countries pass the point of no return…
Bound to a man she cannot love, Queen Alera of Hytanica must forget Narian, the young man …

You know those ubiquitous YA novels where the teen heroine is inevitably pure at heart and just doesn’t see how great she really is? Yeah, this isn’t one of those books. But, that’s why I really liked it. The story centers around Nastasya (Nasty, for short) a 450-year-old immortal, who is careless, selfish, and emotionally disconnected from the world around her. In fact, some of the things she has done are downright detestable. That’s what makes her human to me, even though she is immortal. She has tons of flaws, …

March’s Book of the Month was a wonderful read! (Thanks Krystal) You can check out my review, with facial expressions, below or you can read what I thought about the ‘German Gem‘ here…
This terrific time-travel novel is a the first book in a trilogy. The books have already been released in German, but we will have to wait years to read the entire series in English! YIKES! (I might be learning German, people!) The main character, Gweneth, is a typical British teen who finds out that she has the ability …

Ashes, by Ilsa J. Bick, is a 450 page haunting tale filled with delicious horror and frightening details. Bick has woven a story in which you fall in love with her characters and have no problem following them through a harrowing journey. The heroine, Alex, a girl who has honestly faced most everything you can imagine, begins the book on one very specific journey-a hard and emotional one. But after the Zap occurs, Alex’s journey becomes more than she bargained for as the world seems to be …

I can’t even explain how excited I was when I got my hands on Spellcaster by Cara Lynn Shultz. After reading Shultz’s first book, Spellbound, I knew this was going to be a series I would love. You can read my review of Spellbound here. You can also read our interview with Cara Lynn Shultz here.
Back to Spellcaster: Every time I get to a second book, I am always a little bit apprehensive. Will the sophomore edition live up to my expectations? Will I still be in love with the …

Isabella: Girl on the Go is a picture book by Jennifer Fosberry. The illustrations are done by Mike Litwin. Published by Sourcebooks Jabberwocky, this book left me feeling a bit conflicted. While I loved the premise and idea behind the story, I also felt each page ended a bit abruptly. I wish Fosberry had put just a bit more into the dialogue between Isabella and her father. Isabella is a rambunctious little girl with a grand imagination. Each page takes the reader on a new journey to a new place …

Born Wicked is the first novel in Jessica Spotwood’s Cahill Witch Chronicles. I am not a huge fan of books about witches, but Spotswood has written a beautiful story enriched with romance, persecution, and intriguing antiquity. I was enchanted in the first chapter by Cate Cahill, and her sisters. Cate’s sisters, Maura and Tess, are the perfect balance to Cate’s romantic interests, Paul and Finn. The struggles they face in society, and Cate’s personal charge to protect her sisters, all while falling in love, created an emotional adventure that left …

Bitterblue is the companion novel to Kristin Cashore’s Graceling and Fire. Before I write more, you should know that it is paramount (in my opinion) that you read Graceling before Bitterblue. The structure of characters’ relationships and setting are based on a foundation built in Graceling. In Bitterblue, we read an intricately woven story that stands on Graceling‘s foundation and it’s strength holds these characters together when you think everything in their world should be crumbling!
I am extremely impressed with the maze of story lines that Cashore guides you through …
