August's Book of the Month: RIFT by Andrea Cremer

This month I am challenging you to read Rift by Andrea Cremer.  I recently read and reviewed the novel, and I think you will love it!  While reading, I thought about how the story of the adventurous redhead, Ember, reminded of a more mature Merida, from Disney’s Brave.  The prequel to the Nightshade Series answers questions about Cremer’s world and war began.  In addition, there is still more to look forward to… Rise the second prequel will be released in January 2013.  Whether you’ve read the Nightshade Series or not, …

Rift by Andrea Cremer

Rift, by Andrea Cremer, is the first prequel to her Nightshade Series.  I have no qualms admitting that Andrea is one of my favorite writers in YA today.  Cremer’s Nightshade Series is definitely my favorite “wolf” trilogy, and this glimpse into the creation of her world is full of conflict, combat, and chemistry!  I have been telling friends all over that Rift is a YA version of Dinsey’s ‘Brave’.  Your daughter or little sister can have Merida, and you can live vicariously through Ember!
The setting, characters, and plot left me …

BEA Monday: A Week Full of Books and NO Reading!?!?

Last week’s wonderful book-filled extravaganza, better known as BEA, was so busy that I did not read a book the entire time!  I did read what feels like a million book jackets, looking for some great new novels to bring home!  I loved meeting authors, networking with publishers and bloggers, and I didn’t even mind waiting in a few of the lines… But what seemed so odd was that I was attending BOOK Expo America and I had no time to read any books.  Now that I am home, reading …

#BreathlessTour in Dallas, TX

Every page will leave you Breathless…
Breathless Reads is back  with Legend by Marie Lu, the Across the Universe trilogy by Beth Revis, the Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer and Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood.  I was so excited to hear that Penguin was sending four of my favorite authors to Texas this February for the Breathless Reads Tour!  It did not matter one bit how far I had to drive, how much gas prices have gone up, or if I would have to brave the whirlwind book signing alone.  I made the journey, conquered traffic, and got a …

Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer

I was lucky enough to get a copy of Wolfsbane (ARC) by Andrea Cremer… When it arrived in the mail, I dropped EVERYTHING and began reading!  I should preface this review and let you know that I adore Nightshade, the first book in The Nightshade Novels.  After the cliffhanger at the end of Nightshade, I could not get Wolfsbane in my hands soon enough.  We were all left with so much turmoil and confusion, and I knew it would more than one book to answer all my questions!  I tried …
