The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

This book was such a happy surprise.  Although I have read and loved all of Maggie Stiefvater’s books, this latest series was not something that appealed to me from the book blurb.  Fortunately for me, a quick visit to my BFF’s bookshelf, convinced me to give it a chance and I am so glad.  I could not put this book down.  Every twist and turn was a surprise for me.  I can’t figure out where the story is headed and I love that.  The story of Blue and her Raven …

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Grave Mercy (Book I): His Fair Assassin, Book I (His Fair Assassin Trilogy)

Grave Mercy, by Robin LaFevers, is a novel that showed no mercy on me, or the life I try to keep scheduled in my calendar.  The heart-pounding adventure and tenuous relationships kept me engrossed in the story and rearranging my life to make more time to read.  I could not put this book down, and finished in two days… And, I’m not talking about a weekend, but two work days!  Lots-o-reading = little-sleep!
Ismae, the main character, is …

Double by Jenny Valentine

Double by Jenny Valentine
This book left me in a state of constant anxiety. I could not put it down, because I was so anxious for the main character Chap. It is a good thing it was a short book or I don’t think my heart could have handled it. In this novel by Jenny Valentine, a teenaged guy named Chap learns from his dying “grandfather” that he is not who he thinks he is. At sixteen, he is suddenly on his own with no knowledge of who he is or …

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Reading the hype about this book sort of had me starting the read as a skeptic. I mean as someone who LOVED the Hunger Games, I was not sure this book could measure up…. Well, I am the first to admit when I am wrong. I was wrong. This book is FANTASTIC!The book is a little slower paced than the others in its genre, but it gave me time to really love the characters.  With most books, I can’t put them down until I am finished, but with this one, …

Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Wow!! That is all I can say about this book.  I have to admit that it was not the type of book that grabbed me from the get-go, but after a few chapters, I could not put it down.  The book is the story of a young girl named Nikki who disappears into an underworld called Everneath.  After spending her time there as an energy host, she is able to return to her life for six months before she has to either return to Everneath where she will be forced …
