It was a great relief to finally get my hands on The Eternity Cure, by Julie Kagawa. Kagawa definitely knows how to leave the reader hanging, and after reading The Immortal Rules I was itching to find out where Allie would end up. The second novel in The Blood of Eden Series didn’t have as much world building to hash through, and got down to business immediately.  This grabbed me from the first page, and I was hooked all the way to the “end”.
Allie’s story takes a turn in the …

Nobody by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Nobody, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, started out as a promising mix of YA paranormal and sic-fi. Claire could be depressing and whiny, but despite no one paying any attention to her for her entire life she sucks it up and works on her tan.  Then there is an attempt on her life.  Claire is unaware that she has a rare ability, but when she sees the guy that wants to kill her it starts a string of events that bring the two to work together.
I really liked the character Claire, …

With the murder trial looming just …

Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier

This is the second novel in The Ruby Red Trilogy, Sapphire Blue, by Kerstin Gier.  I have been waiting a year for this novel, and I still feel so incomplete… Probably because it is a trilogy and I have only read two of the novels in the series!  If only I knew German!  As these books are being translated, I have been waiting as patiently as possible. I admit that it has been worth the wait, with new characters and a growing relationship between Gwen and Gideon, I could not …

Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick

Shadows is the second novel in the Ashes Trilogy, by Ilsa J. Bick. This apocalyptic zombie thriller picks up right where the cliffhanger in Ashes leaves off!  If you can believe it, I thought the second installment was even better than the first.  The story built in complexity and intensity, while the characters fought zombies and, in some cases, senior citizens.
Eyeball eating was bad enough, but in Shadows we get better view of the ‘life’ these zombies lead.  Alex, Tom, and Ellie have all been forced by circumstances to separate, …
