How to get the boy or girl of your dreams
Courtesy of Ava, Goddess of Love.
(Aimée Carter (@aimee_carter) www.aimeecarter.com)
You might think being the Goddess of Love would make dating a whole lot easier, but not even I can catch a break sometimes. Every so often the boy I love is seeing someone else, or he’s not that into me (and also might be a bit crazy, but that’s beside the point). Or he doesn’t like girls at all (which is how I’ve found some of my best friends). Whatever the case may …

Venom by Fiona Paul

Venom is the first novel in The Secrets of the Eternal Rose trilogy, by Fiona Paul. Those of you who enjoy a beautiful historical fiction, intriguing paranormal plots, and breathtaking romance will adore Venom!  Cassandra is a young woman faced with finding the killer of other young girls in her city before she herself is killed.  The brave and taboo Falco enters Cass’s life by accident, and lingers.  Falco may be sticking around to help solve the murders, but finds himself drawn more to Cass than the mystery.  Cass struggles …

Rift by Andrea Cremer

Rift, by Andrea Cremer, is the first prequel to her Nightshade Series.  I have no qualms admitting that Andrea is one of my favorite writers in YA today.  Cremer’s Nightshade Series is definitely my favorite “wolf” trilogy, and this glimpse into the creation of her world is full of conflict, combat, and chemistry!  I have been telling friends all over that Rift is a YA version of Dinsey’s ‘Brave’.  Your daughter or little sister can have Merida, and you can live vicariously through Ember!
The setting, characters, and plot left me …

Bourne by Lisa T. Bergren

Bourne is the fourth installment in the the River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren.  While I don’t normally make a huge deal about e-novellas in general, I wanted to point this one out because I love the series so much! Novellas are quite the trend in YA right now… There are prequel novellas, mid-series novellas, and what I like to call the ‘I love this series so much that I need more!‘ novellas.  If you’ve read Waterfall, Cascade, and Torrent then you know what I mean by not …

The Taker by Alma Katsu

How do I begin to explain my inner discord after reading The Taker, by Alma Katsu?  At present I am curious, fascinated, and inveigled by the novel.   Alma Katsu has created a world where time is irrelevant, and you get a glimpse of the life of an immortal. The main character, Lanore, seduces you and weaves a story from the past that makes you question the benefits of this gift. While Lanny’s present circumstances seem impossible, the narrative of her tragic past reveals that she has experienced an iniquitous …

Allegiance by Cayla Kluver

Allegiance by Cayla Kluver was released back in February. To say I was excited to read this sequel to her, Legacy, might very well be the understatement of the year. Here’s the synopsis from Amazon.com:
He couldn’t help his past any more than he could help the way those intense, deep blue eyes pierced me and held me captive. An eighteen-year-old queen in love with the enemy as their countries pass the point of no return…
Bound to a man she cannot love, Queen Alera of Hytanica must forget Narian, the young man …
